OUR MISSION

We aim to fulfill a growing need for time spent outdoors,

fostering authentic and meaningful relationships with the natural world, and preserving a love of learning and creativity for all children

OUR GOAL is to provide children with authentic learning opportunities to engage with nature in a meaningful, lasting and holistic manner- to instill a positive regard for nature and teach responsible stewardship.

OUR INTENTION is to foster a sense of community and a shared learning experience while building resilient, confident and independent learners.

OUR HOPE is for our students to become inquiry-driven independent thinkers who communicate effectively and are comfortable finding their own way. We aspire to prepare our students to thrive in a processed-based, collaborative world.

MFS has truly been a magical experience for our whole family. Our son has transformed into a confident explorer, artist, mentor, helper, friend and creator. Removing the confines of an indoor space has opened up his world and perspective, built new connection, knowledge and comfort with the outdoors. The investigative curriculum paired with enriching materials kept his mind and body growing throughout and prepared him for his next adventure of kindergarten. I wish we'd found this program sooner!

Choosing a forest school over a ‘traditional preschool setting’, for what would have been my daughter's first year of preschool, was a very difficult decision to make initially. I always knew the importance of outdoor learning, however, I still felt like I was taking a leap of faith, simply because 'traditional' is all I've ever known. Ultimately, it was the best decision we could have made for our family.

It’s been a transformative journey for us and our daughter, who just thrives in the forest! Being a part of a mixed-age, low-ratio, fully-outdoor class has proved to be such a special and unique experience in itself. Our daughter couldn’t even talk or carry her own backpack when she first started. To look back and see how far she’s come and see all of the experiences and knowledge she has gained in the forest has really given her confidence and self-esteem and a sense of belonging. That in itself is immeasurable to me. I couldn’t have asked for better teachers than Mia and Ashley, who have put all of my worries and concerns at ease and have far exceeded my expectations with the program. It has been exactly what we didn’t even know we wanted or needed, and we are endlessly grateful to MFS for illuminating that for us.

Magic Forest School has been beyond

a wonderful experience for our 2 year old. The teachers are expert preschool teachers: creative, skillful, supportive, and warm. Our son has thrived with four hours of daily outdoor play and learning. We also really appreciated the opportunity that mixed age levels provided to learn social skills.

Mia and Ashley were incredibly thoughtful in designing the structure and curriculum at MFS. They've blended learning into everything they do, and introduced a fun array of natural materials into the kids' daily routines. It's been rewarding for both him and us to talk at the end of each day about what he's up to (which is largely possible because of the amazing daily text updates and photos we get from his teachers!). Maybe most tellingly, he eagerly waves us away when we drop him off in the morning because he's so comfortable at MFS and excited to start the day.
